The Schippersstraat is a car-free street in the Nieuwmarkt neighborhood. It is a quiet street where the residents still greet each other. But at the same time you can easily reach Central Station and the main roads. A bicycle factory was once located in the building at number 11; now the upper floors are apartments.
The 95 m2 apartment on the second floor is an open space with kitchen, dining and living area. The cupboard wall is also the separation of the sleeping area with conservatory and luxury bathroom. If you want more rooms, you can quite simply divide the room differently, with 2 bedrooms on the street side and kitchen and living area with conservatory facing the courtyard of the building block.
Half of the garage/storage room (of 52 m2) on the ground floor belongs to the apartment. The residents of the building are currently sharing that space. There is room for 2 middle class cars, bicycles and the like. It is also possible to separate this space as your own storage space or as an extra room (of 26 m2).
Through the communal entrance and staircase you arrive to the private entrance of the apartment of 95 m2 on the second floor. From the hall you step into the large living space of no less than 83 m2. On the street side of the apartment is the open kitchen. The dining area is right next to it with enough space for a large dining table. There is also a cupboard wall there. The living area extends to the rear of the apartment. A second cupboard wall is also the separation of the sleeping area with the conservatory on the inner garden. The luxurious bathroom is accessible from both the sleeping area and the hall and has a walk-in shower, sink and toilet. In addition, there is a separate laundry room with washing machine connection and an internal storage room (former laundry room/shower). The apartment can be easily arranged differently if desired. The kitchen could be moved to the rear by the conservatory. At the front of the apartment there will be room then for 2 bedrooms (see: Optional layout).
On the ground floor is the storage room / garage (of 52 m2). This space is currently being used by all VvE members. There is room for two middle class cars, bicycles, cupboards and the like. It is possible to convert this space into a separate room (of 26 m2) with a partition wall for study, work and / or storage (see: Optional layouts).

The Schippersstraat is located between the Binnenkant and the Prins Hendrikkade, near the Montelbaanstoren. It is a charming and car-free street in the quiet part of the Nieuwmarkt neighborhood. The busy Nieuwmarkt is nearby. There, opposite the Albert Heijn, is the daily market with lots of fresh vegetables and on Saturday there is the farmers market. You can also do your shopping in the Jodenbreestraat with (large) Albert Heijn, Blokker, Kruidvat, Etos. Waterlooplein, Oosterdok, Kalkmarkt, Zeedijk, Central Station, Dam Square and Rokin are within walking distance. You can easily reach the Jordaan, Kadijken or Artis by bike.
From Central Station you can go in all directions with public transport. By car you can drive from the car-free Schipperstraat via the Prins Hendrikkade and the IJ tunnel or Piet Hein tunnel to the A10 ring road. Those who are smart will put the car away, take a bicycle or scooter and uses Greenwheels instead. Six Greenwheels with their own exclusive parking space are just a few minutes' walk away.
The Nieuwmarkt neighborhood and the area around Central Station are developing into one of the most sought after places in Amsterdam. Thanks to its location in the car-free street, this apartment is an oasis of tranquility. It is suitable for art and culture lovers, as well as for going out and shopping. Cafes and restaurants are plentiful. The terraces on the Nieuwmarkt offer plenty of Amsterdam ‘gezelligheid’.
The apartment can easily be converted. If you look at the optional layout, the kitchen is moved to the sleeping area.
The four patio doors of the conservatory extension are being replaced by sliding doors. The same applies to the windows of the rear of the current living area. Space will then be created on the street side for two bedrooms and work rooms.
The artist impressions give an impression of the living room with open kitchen, whereby the conservatory extension becomes an attractive dining area. See also: Optional floor plan.
Garage / storage:
On the ground floor is the storage room / garage (of 52 m2). See: Map storage / garage.
This space belongs to the ownership right of the apartment on the first and the ownership right of the apartment on the second floor. The map shows that the storage / garage is split into two areas of 2.16 x 12.07 meters (each of 26.07 m2).
