This neighborhood is known, among other things, for the architecture of the “Amsterdam School”. There are numerous courtyards, vistas and architectural eye-catchers, such as 'Het Schip' by architect Michel de Klerk on Oostzaanstraat. All daily amenities are around the corner in Spaarndammerstraat. This includes supermarkets such as Jumbo and Albert Heijn, but also various specialty shops. There are also several nice catering establishments such as Café De Walvis, De Pizzabakkers, Cafe Moos, Dignita Westerpark, Renato's en Restaurant Freud.
